On 28th April 2020, the Kuwaiti Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah met with the visiting Chinese medical expert team. The meeting was attended by Ambassador Li Minggang,Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health Dr. Mustafa Redha and other officials from both sides.

Sheikh Dr. Basel, on behalf of the Kuwaiti government, expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for sending a team of medical professionals with frontline expertise and experience in COVID-19 treatment to assist Kuwait in addressing the epidemic at such a critical time, adding that this would contribute to boosting the morale of the medical practitioners in Kuwait, and providing prompt assistance to Kuwait in improving the treatment protocol. Kuwait aspires to deepen cooperation in the health sector with China, especially actively seeking support from China in terms of large-scale testing and vaccine development.

For his part, Ambassador Li said that the exceptional arrangement of the arrival of the Chinese medical team upon completion of their program in Saudi Arabia reflected the friendship between China and Kuwait and our shared commitment to jointly combat COVID-19. China would extend its continued support to Kuwait, within its capacity, in addressing COVID-19 epidemic.

Ruan Yuesheng, head of the medical expert team and Deputy Director-General of the Health Commission of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, thanked the Kuwaiti side for its hospitality, and said that the team would fully respect the arrangements of the Kuwait side, and unreservedly share the Chinese experience and Chinese approach in COVID-19 response with the Kuwaiti health experts.
