Ambassador Li warmly welcomed the arrival of the expert team, hailing the medical experts, who rushed to the frontline overseas in a spirit of fighting courageously to provide assistance and just completed their some 10-day program in Saudi Arabia, as "heroes in harm's way". Ambassador Li praised the medical experts' efforts for making tangible contribution to the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, and wished them success and safe while working in Kuwait.

Ambassador Li pointed out that, since the emergence of COVID-19 epidemic, China and Kuwait have always been mutually supportive and have maintained close communication on anti-epidemic efforts, which reflects the high-level strategic friendship between the two countries. At present, China has made significant intermediate outcomes in fighting COVID-19 domestically, but is under rising pressure of guarding against imported cases and preventing a resurgence of the outbreak at home. Amid the ongoing threat of the spread of COVID-19 in Kuwait, the Chinese government sent a medical expert team to Kuwait, which embodies a solid commitment of both countries to stand by each other and tide over all difficulties together during the harsh times. Virus knows no national borders, and with joint efforts of China and Kuwait as well as international communities, we would prevail over the epidemic at an early date.

Affirming Kuwait's desire for the arrival of the Chinese medical expert team, Dr. Fawaz said that this has truly represented the Chinese people's profound friendship towards Kuwait. China has shown an esteemed spirit of international humanitarian by offering a helping hand to other countries when the world suffers from the pandemic. Kuwait will take good care of the Chinese medical experts and ensure their safety.

The 8-member Chinese medical expert team, which was organized by China's National Health Commission and selected by Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, comprises experts specializing in fields including laboratory testing, infectious diseases prevention and control, respiratory and critical care, nursing and traditional Chinese medicine. During their stay in Kuwait, the medical experts will carry out extensive and in-depth exchanges with health experts and frontline medical personnel from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health and medical institutions with an effort to assist the Kuwaiti side in COVID-19 response, share China's experiences in fighting the COVID-19 epidemic, and provide technical guidance and consultations on epidemic prevention. Besides, the experts will also provide the Chinese Embassy, Chinese companies and students, as well as overseas Chinese in Kuwait with medical and health guidance and assistance.
