Ambassador Li Minggang Meets with H.E. Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah

On 8th March 2020, Ambassador Li Minggang paid a visit to H.E. Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Both sides exchanged views on the strengthening of China-Kuwait strategic partnership by overcoming the current impacts caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic.

 

 

Ambassador Li, during the meeting, expressed sincere appreciation for the invaluable support by the Kuwaiti leadership since COVID-19 outbreak began in China, as well as Kuwait's $3 million worth of assistance and medical supplies which are in transit to be delivered to China. In the wake of the recent COVD-19 outbreak in Kuwait, China is willing to provide sincere support in return and strengthen the cooperation in the health sector with Kuwait in order to jointly tackle this public health challenge. Initial progress has been made in China's fight against COVID-19 outbreak, and Kuwait will surely overcome the outbreak. China stands ready to work with Kuwait to firmly implement the consensus of President Xi Jinping and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and further promote bilateral pragmatic cooperation including the development of Kuwait's Silk City and five islands.

 

On his part, H.E. Sheikh Nasser expressed Kuwait's concern and support for the Chinese people in the battle against the novel coronavirus, and wished the Chinese side would prevail over the outbreak at an early date. He also stressed that Kuwait has always accorded priority to Kuwait-China relations, believing that the bilateral relations will usher in a brighter future after the short-term hardship caused by the outbreak.
