Ambassador Li Minggang Congratulates Kuwait on National Day and Expresses Sympathy over Kuwait's Coronavirus Infections

On 25th February 2020, Ambassador Li Minggang congratulated Kuwait on the country’s 59th National Day via local media agencies, and expressed his sympathy over the novel coronavirus (COVD-19)infections recently occurred in Kuwait.

 

Ambassador Li said that on behalf of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the State of Kuwait and on my own behalf, I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to the Government and people of the friendly State of Kuwait on the occasion of the National Day of the State of Kuwait. A few days ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the National Day to wish the friendly State of Kuwait prosperity and strength and the people good health and happiness.

 

As China is making all-out efforts to fight the novel coronavirus outbreak, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of condolences to President Xi Jinping to express Kuwait’s solidarity and support to China. Virus knows no boundaries and nationalities. The Chinese government and people completely relate to what Kuwait is going through, and stand ready to share experience in outbreak control measures and make concerted efforts with Kuwait to win the battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak at an early date.

 

Kuwait became independent on 19th June 1961, and later defined 25th February as the country’s National Day. On 26th February 1991, Kuwait was liberated from Iraqi occupation and restored sovereignty. Subsequently, every 25th and 26th February are set as Kuwait National and Liberation Days.

 

On 24th February 2020, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health announced the first COVD-19 infection case within Kuwait. The total COVD-19 infection cases in the country, as of the morning of 25th February, topped 8.
