On 20th February 2020, Ambassador Li Minggang met with the Speaker of Kuwait National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanim.
Ambassador Li introduced the latest developments on the novel coronavirus (COVD-19) outbreak and the robust measures taken by the Chinese government, stressing that under the strong leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping, China has swiftly put in place a national mechanism, and acted resolutely with the most comprehensive, rigorous and thorough measures. Through these efforts, the epidemic is generally under control. China has also acted in an open and transparent manner in re leasing relevant information to the world and attaching great importance to international cooperation to prevent the spread of the epidemic worldwide.
For his part, Speaker Marzouq said that he was pleased to hear the positive results through China’s efforts in combating the COVD-19. Kuwait highly values and appreciates the control measures taken by China, and believes in China’s wisdom and capability in prevailing over the epidemic. China has made enormous efforts to protect the world, and Kuwait is ready to provide all necessary support and help.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Li exchanged with Marzouq on other topics such as Xinjiang’s economic and social development achievements, and China’s efforts in counter-terrorism and anti-extremism. Marzouq expressed respect and understanding for relevant policies adopted by China.
