On 16th July 2020, Ambassador Li Minggang met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kuwait Khaled Al-Jarallah, and exchanged views on China-Kuwait relations and bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, Ambassador Li said that since the COVID-19 outbreak, China and Kuwait have stood firmly together and supported each other in the face of crisis, which well demonstrates the strategic partnership between China and Kuwait. Next year, as we will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait, China stands ready to take this opportunity to promote more frequent high-level exchanges, accelerate the alignment of China's Belt and Road Initiative with Kuwait Vision 2035, scale up the pragmatic cooperation in various fields and bolster people-to-people exchanges in an effort to bring the bilateral relations to a new level.
Ambassador Li also noted the successful convening of the ninth Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF). At the conference, China and Arab states had in-depth discussions on solidarity against COVID-19 and elevate China-Arab strategic partnership, and reached major outcomes. China is ready to work closely with Kuwait to implement the conference outcomes.
Jarallah welcomed China's significant results in the prevention and control of the epidemic, and its continued endeavors to actively share the COVID-19 response experience with and provide anti-epidemic assistance to other countries. The solidarity and mutual support between China and Kuwait in the time of COVID-19 is a vivid reflection of a community with a shared future. The 50th anniversary of China-Kuwait diplomatic relations is a milestone for the bilateral relations. Kuwait is keen to join hands with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state as well as the major outcomes reached at the ninth Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, and pursue greater and steady progress in Kuwait-China relations.
