Chinese and Kuwaiti Military Medical Experts Hold COVID-19 Response Video Conference

On 16 June 2020, Chinese military medical experts held a virtual conference with the Kuwaiti military officials and counterparts to exchange experience on combating the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants of the virtual conference were Snr. Col. Li Rui, Chief of International Cooperation & Exchanges Office of the Medical Service Directorate of the Logistic Support Department of China's Central Military Commission, Snr. Col. Xue Chuanlai, Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, Sheikh Abdullah Meshal Mubarak Al Sabah, Chief of Medical Services Authority of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense, and experts from the two armed forces in clinical laboratory and epidemic prevention and control.

 

At the conference, both sides briefed each other on their respective participation in the COVID-19 response. Medical experts from the Chinese side highlighted the treatment of typical cases of COVID-19 as well as the prevention and control of COVID-19 nosocomial infection. Both sides also exchanged experience on epidemic prevention and control, diagnostic testing, clinical treatment, and vaccine R&D, and the Chinese side answered all questions from their Kuwaiti counterparts.

 

   

 

At the virtual conference, Xue said that since the COVID-19 outbreak, China and Kuwait have been standing together and supporting each other in the fight against the epidemic, reflecting the strategic level of the bilateral relations. This virtual conference, being the first important joint action taken by both sides regarding COVID-19 response, is a manifestation of the deepening military-to-military cooperation in epidemic prevention and control. Xue hoped that both armed forces will take this conference as an opportunity to further strengthen cooperation in various fields such as medical treatment for more fruitful results.

 

The Kuwaiti side hailed the tremendous efforts and important achievements made by the Chinese side in the fight against COVID-19, and expressed gratitude to their Chinese counterparts for sharing the experience in countering the epidemic.
