Ambassador Zhang Jianwei Meets with New U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait Karen Hideko Sasahara

On March 12, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait Karen Hideko Sasahara who has assumed her post months ago.




Ambassador Zhang congratulated Ambassador Karen on her appointment and thanked her for her presence at the Chinese Culture and Cuisine Festival held by the Chinese Ambassador days ago. He stressed that the China-US relationship is the most important relationship in the world and that it is imperative for both sides to earnestly implement the consensus reached by Chinese and U.S. presidents during their summit meeting in San Francisco and work under the principles of mutual respect, peaceful existence and win-win cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping to promote the sound, steady and sustained development of bilateral relations. He said he will strengthen communication and coordination with Ambassador Karen.


For her part, Karen spoke highly of the Chinese Cultural and Cuisine Festival and approved of the idea that both sides should follow the roadmap created by the two heads of state in pursuing a steadily growing U.S.-China relationship. She expressed the hope to maintain close communication with His Excellency Ambassador Zhang.


They also exchanged their views on the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict, the situation in the Red Sea and other regional and international issues.
