In celebration of 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait is pleased to launch the “Beautiful China” Photography Contest intended to promote people-to-people bonds between China and Kuwait, provide Kuwaiti people with a better understanding about China and China’s pursuit of Chinese modernization. The Chinese Embassy is now announcing an open call for photographic works related to China from the citizens of Kuwait and foreign friends living or working in Kuwait.

I. Theme

This contest, with the theme of “Beautiful China”, welcomes photos that depict the natural scenery, history, culture, folk custom and social development of China from various angles and perspectives in a way that will present to all the true, multidimensional and all-round image of China and reflect the theory and practice of Chinese modernization.

II. Participants

All citizens of Kuwait and all foreign friends living or working in Kuwait, regardless of age or occupation

III. Requirements

1. Every entry must adhere closely to the given theme and be an original work that is created by the photographer on his or her own and has not been made public previously. No advertisement is allowed in any entry submitted for the contest.

2. There are no limits on the form in which the entries are created or arranged. Colorful and black and white photos, single photos and photo series, are all acceptable. Each participant may submit up to five pieces of photos, each of which needs to be explained briefly and be in JPG format with a resolution of no less than 1280x720 pixels and the image size no less than 2M. Please submit the entries together with the registration form (See Attachment) to chinakuwait50@gmail.com and note “beautifulChina+name” in the subject of the email.

3. Entries contributed to the contest that were taken within China will be preferred and prioritized during the selection and appraisal process.

4. Submission deadline: open for contributions from March 10 till August 31, 2024.

5. The photographers shall own the copyrights to their photos. Nevertheless, the organizer is entitled to using the entries free of charge in the ways of publicity, publishing, exhibition, disseminations on the internet, etc.

IV. Prizes& Selection and Awarding

1. Prizes:

First prize: 2 winners. Each winner will be awarded with a round-trip EconomyClass ticket between Kuwait and China and four nights’ accommodation in a local 5-star hotel, worth around KWD500;

Second prize: 5 winners. Each winner will be awarded with a Chinese-brand Smartphone worth around KWD220;

Third Prize: 10 winners. Each winner will be awarded with a Chinese-brand digital product (such as smart watch) worth around KWD90;

Merit Prize: 30 winners. Each winner will be awarded with a Chinese-brand digital product (such as earphones or Bluetooth speaker) worth around KWD45;

Participation Award: each participant will be offered a gift for his or her participation in this contest.

2. Selection and Awarding: the judging board will consider and appraise each entry based on its creativity, relevance, artistic effects and other aspects.

The award ceremony is scheduled in September 2024. All winning entries will be exhibited at the National Day Reception held by the Chinese Embassy this year.
