Ambassador Zhang Jianwei Meets with KNET CEO Esam Alkheshnam

On February 1, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Chief Executive Officer of the Shared Electronic Banking Services Company (KNET) Mr. Esam Alkheshnam. They exchanged their opinions on financial cooperation between China and Kuwait. Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, was present at the meeting.



Ambassador Zhang briefed the CEO on the development of the Chinese economy, saying that the closer communication between the leaders of our two nations over the years has injected strong impetus into the growth of China-Kuwait strategic partnership. Financial cooperation is an integral part of Belt and Road cooperation between the two sides. China will unwaveringly advance its high-quality opening up. China is ready to enhance cooperation with KNET and other major financial institutions of Kuwait in order to increase financial connectivity and provide even greater support for bilateral practical cooperation in various areas.



For his part, Esam commended the remarkable economic achievements of China and said KNET is willing to further cooperate with Chinese financial institutions in a way to contribute to boosting financial cooperation between the two countries and facilitating the growth of bilateral relationship.


KNET is a state-owned banking service network in Kuwait that has a partnership with local major banks and dominates the local bankcard market.
