On January 25, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei attended the “Happy Chinese New Year” event held at the China Cultural Center in Kuwait. Over a hundred Kuwaiti guests were invited to experience Chinese Spring Festival traditional customs including writing Spring Festival couplets, paper cutting, painting and tea art, as well as making traditional Spring Festival foods like spring rolls, dumplings, stuffed buns and glutinous rice balls with sesame.

“Many Kuwaiti friends said, the more you learn about Chinese culture, the more you love China,” said Ambassador Zhang when he was interviewed, adding that this proves China-Kuwait friendship is popular and Chinese culture has a powerful magnetizing effect.

Guests at the event enjoyed themselves immensely in a festive atmosphere. Kids showed each other their paper-cutting works and lanterns they made. Tea artists shared with the guests the tips for preparing, serving and tasting tea. Many gourmets showed passion for the delicious traditional Chinese foods.

Guests said the event provides them with an amazing cultural experience. They expressed their wish to participate in more Chinese cultural events, saying these events will make more Chinese elements familiar to the local people.
