On January 16, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with World Bank Resident Representative in Kuwait Ziad Nakat. Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, was present at the meeting.

Ambassador Zhang briefed Nakat on the growth of China-Kuwait relations. He noted that China and Kuwait have deepened their cooperation in financial, investment and other areas and been working actively to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. This has created many opportunities for World Bank and other multilateral development agencies to expand their business in Kuwait.

For his part, Nakat commended the remarkable economic achievements of China which have brought the world unlimited opportunities. The World Bank Resident Representative Office in Kuwait believed that the growing practical cooperation between China and Kuwait will give a strong boost to economic and social development in Kuwait and benefit regional development and stability. The office will strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China.
