On January 14, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate Mahmoud A. Boushahri. They exchanged their opinions on efforts to enhance sub-national cooperation between the two nations.

Ambassador Zhang said, over the past five decades and more since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kuwait, China-Kuwait relations have maintained a sustained, sound and stable growth, with exchanges enhanced in various fields and at all levels. Sub-national cooperation is an integral part of China-Kuwait strategic partnership. China stands ready to work with Kuwait to well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two nations, elevate the exchanges and cooperation between our sister provinces/cities in economic, trade and cultural areas to a higher level, and bring the two peoples closer.

Recalling his pleasant visit to China, Mahmoud spoke highly of China’s time-honored history and rich culture as well as its remarkable achievements in economic and social development, saying that Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate attaches great importance to enhanced cooperation with China. It will work with the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait to strengthen communication and collaboration, unlock the potential of cooperation and continue to strengthen and deepen the friendship and cooperation between the sister provinces/cities.
