On January 9, 2024, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA). Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, was present at the meeting.

Ambassador Zhang said China-Kuwait friendship enjoys a long history and bilateral relations have come a long way over the years, with a growing number of Chinese companies conducting economic and trade activities with their Kuwaiti partners in the country. In the year ahead, China stands ready to work together with Kuwait to implement the important consensus reached between the leaders of our two nations during their meeting in Hangzhou last year and the cooperation documents signed under their witness. Through joint efforts to deepen our practical cooperation, we will create a bright future together.

Sheikh Dr. Meshaal said the Kuwaiti side values its cooperation with China and will collaborate with China in delivering, at an early date, the outcomes of the meeting between the two leaders. He added that Kuwait will continue to improve its business environment and expects more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country.
