On December 7, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with Mohammad Othman Al-Aiban, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Youth Affairs of Kuwait. Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, was present at the meeting.

Ambassador Zhang noted that pragmatic cooperation between China and Kuwait has kept deepening over the years, especially in September this year when President Xi Jinping and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal had a successful meeting in the Chinese city of Hangzhou and witnessed the signing of many cooperation documents there. In October, Your Excellency the Minister led a delegation to China to attend the meeting of the economic and trade ministers of China and six member states of GCC, which will give a strong boost to high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. China stands ready to work with Kuwait to advance and implement the outcomes in a way to benefit our two countries and peoples.

For his part, Mohammad commended China’s brilliant achievements in economic and social development and stressed that Kuwait attaches great importance to its cooperation with China. The meeting between the leaders of the two countries produced fruitful results, and the meeting of the economic and trade ministers of China and GCC’s six member states was also pragmatic and efficient. Kuwait is willing to work together with China to deliver the relevant benefits and deepen strategic partnership between the two sides.
