On November 23, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with the incoming Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Shanghai Anas. They exchanged views on bilateral relations and efforts to enhance exchanges and cooperation in various areas.

Ambassador Zhang congratulated Anas on his appointment, and said, with enduring friendship, China and Kuwait have achieved a rapid growth in bilateral relations, with fruitful results produced through our practical cooperation. Since December last year, President Xi Jinping and Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal have had two successful meetings where they reached many important common understandings. Ambassador Zhang hoped that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of our two nations and with joint efforts from the both sides, China-Kuwait relations will make greater progress.

For his part, Anas commended China’s remarkable and admirable achievements made under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Noting the long-lasting friendship between Kuwait and China, he said bilateral cooperation has tremendous potential and Kuwait attaches great importance to its relationship with China. He added that he is privileged to serve as Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Shanghai and will do his utmost to promote bilateral relationship and contribute his share to deeper all-round exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
