On November 15, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei met with the Director of the Center for the Promotion of Moderation Abdullah Al-Shuraika. They exchanged their opinions on people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between China and Kuwait.

Ambassador Zhang congratulated Abdullah on his recent successful visit to China. He stressed that his visit is conducive to people-to-people bonds and inter-civilizational exchanges between the two sides, adding that it is a practical means of implementing the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. Ambassador Zhang hoped that he will always act as an envoy of friendship between the two countries and play a positive role in fostering the interaction between our ideas and cultures.

For his part, Abdullah said this visit enables him to gain a deeper understanding of China’s development achievements and its policies on ethnic minorities and religious groups. During his visit in China, he witnessed the peaceful and prosperous life of people of various ethnic groups in the Xinjiang region and their entitlement to the freedom of religion, which is totally different from what the Western media have always portrayed. He pledged that he will continue to contribute his share to stronger bilateral friendship.

Abdullah presented Ambassador Zhang a commemorative board tailor-made for his visit to China which reads “sincere gratitude and high praise to the Chinese government for its endeavors to protect human rights especially the rights and interests of Muslims.”
