On September 13, 2023, Ambassador Zhang Jianwei held a media briefing at the China Cultural Center. Reporters from a dozen media organizations including Kuwait News Agency, Radio Kuwait, Al-Anba, Al-Rai, Al-Qabas, Annahar, Al-Seyassah, Kuwait Times, Arab Times, Al-Arab, Reuters and Al Jazeera were at the briefing.

Ambassador Zhang reviewed the course of China-Kuwait relations and major fruits of bilateral cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). He stressed that BRI has become a popular global public good since its start ten years ago, injecting strong impetus into the shared development of many countries. Ambassador Zhang also expounded the core ideas of three initiatives, namely the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, put forward by President Xi Jinping. In the Q&A session, he answered questions about China’s policies toward the region.

The next day, on September 14, 2023, Ambassador Zhang gave an exclusive interview to Good Morning Kuwait and Daily News, two news programs of Kuwait Television, on China-Kuwait relationship and Belt and Road cooperation.
