On the evening of September 11, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait held a reception to commemorate the 60th anniversary of China dispatching medical teams to foreign countries and the 47th anniversary of China sending a medical team to Kuwait. The event was attended by over 100 guests, including Ambassador Zhang Jianwei, Hu Hanming, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi, Kuwaiti Minister of Health, and Zhang Li, Deputy Director of the Health Commission of Jinlin Province.

Ambassador Zhang said in his speech that along the extraordinary journey of six decades, members of all Chinese medical teams abroad have always lived up to the spirit of the team; among them are those who have dedicated themselves to medical aid in Kuwait in the past 47 years, promoting the friendly ties between our two countries. China will continue to push for the vision of building a global community of health for all proposed by President Xi Jinping, and work with Kuwait to deepen our cooperation in healthcare.

During his remarks, Dr. Ahmed said it is a pleasure to see Kuwait and China celebrate China’s remarkable achievements in offering medical aid to foreign countries. He hoped that the two sides will work jointly to deal with challenges currently faced by the health system.

Deputy Director Zhang Li encouraged members of the Chinese medical team in Kuwait to deliver benefits to the local communities through their proficient medical skills and lofty medical ethics. The team members showcased the unique culture and therapies of the Traditional Chinese Medicine.
